On the 11th of March, Sergey Lavrov, Russian Minister of Foreign affairs, met with Staffan de Mistura, the UN Secretary General for the Sahara. Their discussion was primarily dedicated to the question of Western Sahara, a territory with a complex status, and that is claimed by Morocco. The two diplomats have agreed on the necessity to find a permanent solution to the Sahrawi issue, that would need to be approved by the UN Security Council, without explicitly detailing said solution.
