Syrnikis are a Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian dessert made with cottage cheese, often eaten during breakfast.
Ingredients :
Tvorog (cottage cheese) – 250 gr
Wheat flour (or fine semolina) – 2 tablespoons
Chicken egg – 1 piece
Sugar – 1 tablespoon
Salt – 1/3 teaspoon
Cooking oil for frying
+ Flour to give shape to the syrnikis
Preparation:
- Mix the egg, cottage cheese, flour, salt and sugar and stir with a fork until you obtain a smooth dough.
- Take a tablespoon, moisten it with water, and scoop out the dough. Shape the dough with your hands into balls 2 to 2.5 cm high and roll them in the flour. Cover the table in flour. You can also shape the syrnikis with a glass.
- Heat cook oil over medium heat and place the syrnikis in it. Keep the pressure on for half a minute and lower the heat to a low temperature. Fry the syrinikis on both sides until golden brown.
4. Serve with fruit jam or fresh cream, and some tea of course !
