While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was in Brussels on 27th June to sign a security agreement with the European Union, this new cooperation comes just a few days after the opening of discussions at the beginning of the week.
As a matter of fact, on 25th June described as a “historic moment” by Charles Michel President of the European Council, the official negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union were launched.
Initiated eighteen months after Russian interference began, these talks come a decade after pro-Russian Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych refused to ratify an association agreement with the European Union, leading to widespread demonstrations and new elections in the country.
