For three days (15, 16 and 17 March 2024), Russian citizens are called to the polls to elect the President of the Russian Federation. The Federation’s Central Electoral Commission has registered four candidates: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and, of course, Vladimir Putin. Over the last few days, the Chechen political authorities and various personalities have been providing information on the electoral process in the region, as well as advice on how to vote.

Ramzan Kadyrov has welcomed an “incredibly high” turnout at the Congress of the Chechen People (2nd of March 2024). It is remarkable to note that only in Chechnya can a leader congratulate himself on a turnout before it has even taken place. He justifies this information by the dialogue and closeness between the political authorities and the Chechen people.
