Throwback on the Turkic States Organisation summit ; Türkiye’s diplomacy in Central Asia

Both at the regional and international levels, central asian countries diplomatic relations kept on intensifying with the end of 2023. Bilateral, regional and global scales were all active. In particular, going back on the Astana declaration, following the tenth Organisation of Turkic States’ summit supplies a framework to understand Türkiye’s attempts to strengthen its influence in the region. The organization still lacks positive actions, and still seems like a gathering of converging interests rather than an operational international organization.

On 29th December 2023, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the organization, gave a review on the “historical” tenth summit, which took place on the 3rd november 2023 in Astana. This review took the shape of an interview with the organization’s representation in Hungary, which is an observer state within it. The interview was also published in online media such as Huriyet, a turkish media close to the official administration.
