State Duma deputy Dmitri Kouznetsov has proposed the formation of a children’s battalion called “Akhmat”, with the aim of promoting friendship between peoples. This initiative is based on the significant participation of men from Chechnya and other regions of the North Caucasus in the education of young people throughout the country. However, the proposal has been strongly criticised by many Russian citizens, not least because of concerns raised about the Chechen educational model, exemplified by the example of Ramzan Kadyrov’s son. In response to this criticism, Apti Alaudinov, the commander of Akhmat’s special forces, described the opponents as “fascists”.
