The words of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk on the subject of the unblocking of transport and economic routes in the South Caucasus were relayed on 18 June by the TASS agency to which he granted an interview. He thus stated that a joint document was drawn up at the last trilateral meeting on 2 June in Moscow stipulating that “unblocking transport links in the region [would begin] with the restoration of the railway, which [would use] the Yeraskh-Julfa-Meghri-Horadiz route, and, on the basis of respect for the sovereignty of the parties and it expressly stated: “Neither party disputes that individual sections of this route will be under the jurisdiction of the country in whose territory they are located. Therefore, regarding this road, Azerbaijani legislation will be applied in Azerbaijan, and Armenian legislation – in Armenia”.
