18/02/2023: Participation of a Kazakh delegation in the African Union summit – Audrey Colin.

On 18 and 19 February, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the African Union (AU) : Barlybay Sadykov, participated in the 36th AU summit. Kazakhstan is participating in the summit as an observer state (a status it has had since 2013). This event brought together 40 African heads of state and government, but also representatives of observer states (Israel and Palestine in particular), representatives of international organisations (UN, the League of Arab States, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the European Council, etc.).

The summit provided an opportunity to address issues of central importance to the African continent, such as : security threats resulting from conflicts; terrorism; democracy; food security; UN Security Council reforms; AU response to the COVID-19 pandemic; Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA); climate change, etc. In addition, Ambassador Sadykov took part in the 42nd session of the African Union Executive Council on 15 and 16 February 2023, as well as in several side events. As a result of the summit, according to the Kazakh Embassy in Ethiopia, “a number of documents on the agenda items were adopted“.

18/02/2023 :  Announcement by the President Sadyr Zhaparov of a meeting between him and the former heads of state of Kyrgyzstan – Alexiane Pradier.

On 18 February, Sadyr Zhaparov published on his official Facebook page a post indicating that he organized and participated in a meeting between him and the former heads of state.
