On the 15th of February, Sergey V. Vershinin, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign affairs, held a Russian-Egyptian consultation on the issue of terrorism. This meeting’s objective was to determine the best practices in regards to counterterrorism operations, and in order to prevent its financing. However, the topic of the United Nations was also touched upon. Egypt just joined the BRICS+, that Russia is effectively attempting to use in order to demand an enlargement of the UN permanent Security Council, and to gain an advantage against the West.
