The highlight of April was Sergei Lavrov’s visit to Beijing. The Russian Foreign Minister met his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and the head of the Communist Party, Xi Jinping. Highly anticipated, these meetings did not deviate from the alliance attitude adopted for several years now, especially since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. As the Chinese head of state emphasized in his address on April 9, 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Russian diplomatic relations. The theme of this meeting, which set the tone for the construction of future bilateral partnerships, was therefore cooperation, and more precisely the strengthening of economic cooperation.
