On May 18 and 19, a summit was held in Xi’an, the former Chinese imperial capital, bringing together the first secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping, as well as the five presidents of the republics of Central Asia, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
