This week : Round table in New Delhi between a Kazakh delegation and Indian officials; Release from jail of the former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev; Meeting between the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a delegation of Iranian ministers; The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, pays an official visit to Hungary; Interministerial meeting between Uzbekistan and Germany; Official visit of the Mongol Prime Minister to the Republic of Korea ; Kazakhstan and Ukraine strengthen their ties after a phone call between the leaders of the two countries.

13/02/2023: Round table in New Delhi between a Kazakh delegation and Indian officials – Audrey Colin.

On 13 and 14 February, a delegation led by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Kanat Tumysh, visited New Delhi. The Minister first met the Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakashi Lekhi. This was followed by the “8th round of consultations” between the Kazakh delegation and Indian officials. These Indian officials include the Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, the Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Gas Pankaj Jain, the Secretary (Economic Relations) of the Ministry of External Affairs Dammu Ravi, as well as the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs for Disarmament, International and Cybersecurity: Muanpui Sayaviù.

According to the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this meeting was an opportunity for the Kazakh delegation to emphasize the good progress of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in cultural and commercial fields. Bilateral trade amounted to 2.5 billion US dollars in 2022. But also, to underline the success of multilateral cooperation, in particular the agreements concluded following the 1st Central Asia – India Summit in January 2022.

In this context of deepening of bilateral cooperation, the two countries are paying particular attention to the following sectors: medicine, pharmacology, agriculture, information technology, space and energy. Sectors in which they wish to concentrate their cooperation (according to the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs).

14/02/2023 :  Release from jail of the former President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambaev – Alexiane Pradier.

On 14 February, the former President Almazbek Atambayev was released from the penal colony No. 27 where he was detained since August 2019. The Kyrgyz media ktkr.kg explains that on 13 February, the Judicial College of the Supreme Court cancelled the convictions against the former President in the “illegal release of A. Batukayev”, one of the “heads of crime” of the country as said by the media 24.kg.
