– Cobra Gold-2024 Multinational military exercise
China is taking part in the Cobra Gold-2024 multinational military exercise, held in Thailand from February 27 to March 10. This joint exercise focusing on humanitarian assistance in the event of natural disasters, through on-set simulations and practical training. This is China’s eleventh participation in the exercise since 2014.
The Cobra Gold exercise is held at the joint initiative of Thailand and the United States, leaving Beijing with neither control over its content nor the reputation it enjoys; nevertheless, China can hardly stay away from a regional event of this magnitude (1).
