21/02/2023: China calls on the Security Council for an independent investigation into the Nord Stream pipeline incident -Anna Balawender-

At the Security Council meeting on 21 February, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun expressed his government’s support for an independent investigation into the «deliberate acts» that led to the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipeline on 26 September 2022. SCMP indicates that this request comes in the context of a debate on the incident initiated by Russia in the Security Council.

The three governments currently investigating the incident, Denmark, Sweden and Germany, sent a letter to Council members ahead of the meeting, stating that
