03/25/2022: Container trains to transit through Kazakhstan from Akayla (Turkmenistan) to Jinhuai (China) as part of the Belt and Road Initiative – Denis Lavaud –

On march 25, the kazakh company “KTZ Express” shared his enthusiasm vis-a-vis the oncoming perspectives between the kazakh and turkmen railway, while a freight train, carrying forty-two forty feet long containers from Akayla in Turkmenistan towards Jinhuai in China transited through Kazakhstan during five days, on a 3450 kilometers distance.

“The new railway freight line opens new perspectives between the kazakh and turkmen railway companies. We wish for the future to raise our freight flux and to establish new regular liaisons” according to the head of KTZ Express, Nurlan Igembayev.

03/28/2022: Results of the first International Investment Forum in Tashkent – Aliya Yechshanova – 

The first Tashkent International Investment Forum was held in the capital of Uzbekistan from March 24 to 26, which was attended by more than 2 thousand representatives of business circles and heads of various relevant ministries and departments from 56 countries of the world. Within the framework of this major international economic event, various sessions and meetings were held to discuss the economic and investment prospects of Uzbekistan, mechanisms for attracting investment, as well as identifying priority areas for the country’s economic development, measures to combat the effects of the pandemic and poverty, support entrepreneurship and development of the banking sector. During the Forum, the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, culture, sports and Youth between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia and the Uzbek-Chinese Investment Forum “Industrial Cooperation. New opportunities”. A meeting was also held within the framework of the Country Platform for Uzbekistan, which was attended by representatives of international financial institutions and foreign government financial organizations.

Following the results of the 1st Tashkent Investment Forum, contracts and agreements worth $ 7.8 billion were signed and preliminary agreements were reached on the implementation of projects worth $ 3.5 billion.

In the future, it is possible to hold a regular annual forum, which has proven to be a convenient platform for attracting investments and establishing economic partnership between Uzbekistan and other countries.

03/28/2022: The volume of cargo transportation in Tajikistan increased by 10.3 % – Aliya Yechshanova – 

More than 1.4 million tons of cargo were transported, on may 28, by all modes of transport in Tajikistan in the first two months of this year, which is 10.3% more than the same period last year. Land transport occupies the main place in the transportation of goods, the share of which is almost 100% of the total volume of transportation, by all modes of transport. According to the Statistics Agency under the President of the country, over 1.3 million tons of cargo were transported by road during the reporting period. Compared to the same period last year, the growth in the volume of cargo transportation by road increased by 10.2%.

931.8 thousand tons of cargo were transported by rail, which is 13.1% more than the level of the corresponding period last year. Thus, the share of road transport accounts for 93.5% of the total volume of goods transported by all modes of transport, according to the statistical agency.

03/29/2022: The universities of Ashgabat held a seminar on the French method À Vous – Aliya Yechshanova – 

With the participation of the Ambassador of France to Turkmenistan Isabel Gynel, teachers of Ashgabat universities held a seminar, on march 29, on learning the French language system  “À Vous! ” and the presentation of the corresponding textbook. The online presentation was organized by representatives of Presses Universitaires de Grenoble (PUG) and the French Institute in Turkmenistan. Sylvie Bigo, head of the executive board of Presses Universitaires de Grenoble, together with the head of the department of French as a foreign language PUG, Isabel Gruka, told teachers about the advantages and features of the new method of teaching for students of Turkmen universities in comparison with others’. “A Vous!” is accompanied by a digital application. In addition, additional issues were raised at the online seminar to improve the language learning system, in particular at the initial stage and in online teaching.

As a result of the online meeting, a gift to the Turkmen Makhtumkuli State University, the National Institute of World Languages. D. Azadi and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were provided with printed textbooks by the French publishing house PUG.

03/30/2022: Meeting between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Iran – Denis Lavaud – 

On March 30,the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Iran, Rashid Meredov and Hossein Amir Abdollahian, met in the Chinese city of Tunxi to discuss the development of bilateral cooperation between the two republics.

The discussions mainly focused on the current situation of economic and trade relations between the two countries. In particular, they discussed the prospects for future trade, particularly in the energy and transport sectors. Future meetings are being developed with the aim of establishing partnerships.

03/31/2022: Kazakhstan and South Korea to reestablish a mutual visa-free regime – Denis Lavaud –

The Foreign affairs minister’s press department of Kazakhstan declared on the 31st of march that they reestablish from 1st april onwards, the mutual regime of visa-free exemption between Kazakhstan and South Korea, after the visa-regime was set up during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both countries’ citizens will be exempted from a visa for a maximum of 30 days. From now on, kazakh authorities ask for a simple form to fill in online 24 hours prior to departure.
