This week, international attention remained focused on Taiwan, following the controversy generated by French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks in early April. Political and security initiatives have continued: it is necessary for European, American and regional powers to reaffirm the status quo in the long term. China, for its part, cannot observe the strengthening of this Western front without reacting, because this touches, according to it, one of its most vital interests.
