Human Rights in the South Caucasus – Update on 29/03/2023

The US State Department last week released its 2022 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

– Armenia:

With regard to Armenia, the report recalled the “intense polarisation” of the June 2021 early parliamentary elections “marred by increasingly inflammatory rhetoric and “incidents of pressure to attend campaign events, allegations of vote-buying, blurring of the boundary between the ruling party and the state, alleged misuse of administrative resources, inadequate campaign financing arrangements, and the narrow position allowed for filing electoral complaints.”
