On Sunday 14th May, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received the Charlemagne Prize, an award created in 1949 after the destruction of the Second World War and which is awarded each year in Aachen, the residence of Emperor Charlemagne in the 9th century, for commitment to European integration. The Ukrainian head of state received the award at a ceremony in the coronation hall of the Aachen town hall, in the presence of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (Euronews).
