Since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021, Haiti has been plunged into an unprecedented political, security, and humanitarian crisis. The absence of legitimate governance has allowed gangs to proliferate, now controlling around 85% of the capital, Port-au-Prince. This situation has led to a drastic increase in violence, with thousands of deaths and internally displaced people. ​
