On 7th May, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated the Arab League for its decision to reintegrate Syria among its ranks for future reunions and meetings. As the Kremlin keeps close ties to Bashar al-Assad, this message of encouragement and Moscow’s support against the “illegitimate unilateral sanctions adopted against Damascus” are perfectly coherent.
