– On 8th March, Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the private military company Wagner, announced in an audio message on Telegram that it was controlling the territory on the east bank of the Bakhmuta river, in the city of Barkhmut (formerly Artyomovsk). This statement comes after weeks of battle between Ukrainian forces on one side, and Russian troops and Wagner mercenaries on the other.

Controlling a part of Bakhmut has been difficult, in particular due to lack of ammunition. Indeed, Yevgeny Prigozhin published a message on Telegram on 5th March wondering about the reason for the delay in ammunition deliveries, suggesting ”ordinary bureaucracy or betrayal”.

– On March 9th, in a press statement published on its website, the Russian Defense Ministry announced having struck and bombarded massively, in response to the terrorist attack which took place in the Bryansk region on 2nd March.
