  • The Sino-American trade war is on:

On 2 April 2025, the Trump administration’s announcement of tariffs rocked global financial markets. Following the US President’s speech at the White House, the S&P 500 index fell by 4.84%, while the Nasdaq lost 6%. In other words, the US stock market experienced its biggest fall since March 2020 and the Covid-19 crisis. ‘It almost looked like a doomsday scenario,’ said Wall Street Journal journalist Dan Ives.

Although the heresy has calmed down with the 90-day truce on reciprocal tariffs for 75 countries declared by Trump on 9 April, China is still affected by them. After increasing tariffs to 145% on the US side every week, China has also decided to impose tariffs of 125% on US imports. Beijing has even announced on several occasions that it is not afraid of the United States and is even ‘ready to go all the way in the trade battle with America’, Touteleurope reports.
