16, 17 and 18 /01/2023: Kazakh President Tokayev visits the United Arab Emirates – Audrey Colin.
This week, the President of Kazakhstan visited the United Arab Emirates for three days. These three days were the occasion of numerous meetings between the Kazakh head of state and his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Mohamed ben Zayed Al Nahyan, but also between private actors and business leaders of both countries.
The President’s arrival in the country began on 16 January with a meeting with the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group. This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the development projects of maritime and port infrastructures in the Caspian Sea. According to the Kazakh President’s communication service, a strategic partnership agreement was signed between the national company KazMunayGas and Abu Dhabi Ports Group in this sense.
On 17 January, President Tokayev took part in a round table on investment in Kazakhstan. The United Arab Emirates is one of the country’s leading trade partners in the region, according to the President’s communication service: “The United Arab Emirates has invested about $3 billion in Kazakhstan, and Kazakhstan has invested more than $1 billion in the Emirates. By the end of 2022, the trade turnover between [these] countries amounted to $600 million“. According to the Kazakh President’s communication service, this meeting is a symbol of the longstanding and solid cooperation between the two countries.
Finally, on 17 and 18 January, the Emirati and Kazakh presidents met. These meetings provided an opportunity for the signing and implementation of agreements between the two countries. According to the Emirates news agency, this meeting is a symbol of the long-standing and solid cooperation between the two countries.
