03/01/2023 : The Taiwanese government asks to join WTO consultation on China-US dispute -Anna Balawender-

On January 3, the Taiwanese government officially sent a request to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for observer status in the dispute initiated by China against the United States, Bloomberg media reported.

The Chinese complaint was filed with the WTO Tribunal on December 12, 2022, and concerns the export ban imposed by the United States on goods containing components produced on its soil, or created using U.S. technology or software. China argues in its 615-1 request that the U.S. Department of Commerce, in imposing export restrictions on 2,800 products, exceeds the official list established by the various multilateral treaties.
