On 7 January, Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the current Qatari Ambassador Hassan bin Hamza Hashim to discuss cooperation between their two countries, according to AkiPress and several Qatari newspapers (The Peninsula Qatar, Gulf Times).

According to AzerNews, several topics were discussed, including deepening cooperation between Qatar and Uzbekistan in the fields of trade, investment, transport and communication. Proposals on the agenda as well as the agenda of events in which both countries will participate were discussed.

Nevertheless, according to AkiPress, the discussions focused largely on two topics: the relations and interactions of Qatar and Uzbekistan within the framework of major international institutions such as the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the willingness of both countries to continue their joint efforts in Afghanistan and to stabilize the country by supporting the peace process and restoring the socio-economic framework of the country.
